Producer, Singer and Self-made artist, Moloney has established himself as a guy with a knack for catchy hooks and laid back tunes, recently producing two hip hop releases as well as his own The Architect EP. Lyall's eclectic musical taste lies somewhere bounded by hip-hop, dub and folk. The latest single, ‘Black Dog’, (from The Architect EP), is one of the many products of Lyall’s makings. Tapping into a nostalgic feel, Moloney lays down what might best be called a skip hop beat and an R’n’B keyboard melody. Both singing and toasting on the track, Moloney shows off his musical range and ability.

 

He shape-shifts into a producer and works with other artists at his base in Sydney. Even sneaking a  cameo on Sticky Fingers upcoming 2014 album, Land Of Pleasure. In 2011, he recorded and played through an Ethiopian adventure with younger sister Jade. On his first trip to Ethiopia, his preconceptions were blown away. Lyall took in influences that he’d never contemplated – from this barrage of beauty, culture and friendly faces came a limited edition release. That same year Lyall put together an Australian touring band for Jesca Hoop, and together they did a joint East Coast tour. Lyall also performed with a stack of different artists, including: Sticky Fingers and Xavier Rudd at Woodford Festival. Then capped it all off with a special intimate – sold out - show at Joe's Waterhole in Eumundi. 

 

Since then, there have been 200 plus shows over the last 18 months, including an his own East Coast Tour, Newtown Festival and gigs with Grey Ghost, The Phonies, the Big Village crew, Labrinth (UK), Seth Sentry – all which illustrates his varied influences, folk, hip hop and dancehall. He’s also supported Sticky Fingers on national tours, playing to sold out shows all over the country.

 

Go That Low is Lyall’s third single. Recorded in Sydney, it’s a sharp turn from where he landed on his previous recording – showcasing his knack for song-writing and producing. With influences of dancehall beats and pop tendencies. 

 

Lyall Moloney is fresh and ready to melt faces and hearts in Australia. With a new single and film clip for Black Dog on the loose and an extensive touring schedule of late, has exposed the one-man-band’s melodic dub sound to larger crowds rounding off with a successful string of shows in WA, NSW, VIC, and SA. Playing songs off his latest EP The Architect and a few new numbers set for release this year, Lyall Moloney's already extensive skill set as a musician is just developing. He'll be heading over to the UK next month to spread the good word.
